Antistatic masterbatch reduces dust attraction on plastics

Their own high-performance antistatic masterbatch with a long lasting effect, has been further developed by the family business from Blankenhain. The product was introduced at the K 2019. “We have adapted the recipe and optimized it for other carrier materials. Depending on the application and storage conditions, the long-term effect can last up to four years. It occurs immediately after the end product has been manufactured,” explains additive specialist Dr. Carlos Caro, referring to the special feature of the development. “The surface resistance is in the static-dissipative range between 10E6 and 10E9 ohms. These values are very difficult to achieve with other products on the market”. The high-performance antistatic masterbatch has several compelling effects. It avoids the occurrence of sudden discharges, reduces dust attraction on surfaces and minimizes the risk of explosions. “This provides better protection for both staff and sensitive electrical equipment,” says the expert. “The product can be combined with colour masterbatches or fillers as desired by the customer. The lower dosage of 2 to a maximum of 5 percent results in effective cost savings”. In addition, the antistatic substances can also be used as lubricants or demoulding aids. The areas of application for the additive are therefore diverse. “Applications are possible in the areas of film extrusion, injection moulding, blow moulds, staple fibres and nonwovens as well as deep-drawn parts,” explains the expert, but points out that this only applies to the industrial sector. “The high-performance antistatic masterbatch can also be used in the non-food sector for transparent and colourless articles. Applications with food contact or in medical technology are not possible”.

    2. Applications of Plant-Based Primary Amide Waxes in Industry and Production

Applications of Plant-Based Primary Amide Waxes in Industry and Production

Primary amide waxes offer a wide range of applications in various industries, from plastics production to the rubber industry. As a slip additive, they optimize the processing behavior of polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene (PE), improve the transparency of polyolefin films and increase the flow properties. In rubber production, they act as release agents and reduce the sulfurization process, while in the printing industry they are used as an aid for even color distribution. Their plant-based basis and production in state-of-the-art facilities also underline their sustainable profile.

    4. Applications: CONSTRUCTION

      Applications: CONSTRUCTION

Bespoke plastics are becoming increasingly significant for the construction sector. Here, engineering plastics can offer excellent resistance to oxidation and corrosion caused by aqueous solutions, acids and bases – areas where metal parts in particular are bound to fail. Whether for window sections or piping, cable channels or housing facades, construction materials have to stand up to a wide range of demanding requirements. With their special property characteristics, our filled and unfilled LURANYL® PPE/PS-I and PPE/PA blends offer an outstanding foundation on which to base demanding applications such as extrusion-moulded pipes and sections or the manufacturing of especially complex injection-moulded pipes. ROMIRA has also been supplying a number of its own LURANYL® blends with KTW, ACS and WRAS approval since 2002, for deployment both in cold-water and hot-water applications. ROMIRA offers you a versatile portfolio of plastics solutions specifically customised and tailored to your individual requirements. Easy to handle and highly effective, they offer you a steady stream of deployment options in shell construction and interior fit-out. ROMIRA is happy to advise you on your plans and offers support for new developments or improvements to your existing products.
