Top Cooling Water Quality…without Using Biocides
Systemic Water Treatment for Sustainable Success ONI-AquaClean technology has a systemic structure. Measurement sections – for conductivity, pH value, redox voltage, and volume flow – in conjunction with a high-performance computer deliver all the information that is needed for a gradual treatment of the cooling water. The actual water treatment is then implemented via diverse filter units as well as a downstream, intrinsically safe ozonization. A pump unit supplies the ONI-AquaClean system, independent of the cooling water network, with a defined quantity of water, and ensures the discharge of the requisite amounts of backwash water.

Modular energy centers
An increasing number of companies in the world decide on an application of modular energy centers from ONI. In addition to high efficiency and reliability, our customers appreciate the quick availability of energy media, flexibility and spacesaving design. Also, the modular design offers the advantage of a customization to the specific requirements regarding performance and the range of supply. For the miscellaneous applications modules are available for the supply of cooling and cold water, heating energy from waste heat, compressed air, agents for water treatment or treated water for the network backfeed. The design of our energy centers features a clear arrangement, functionality and ready access of/ to all components. These are factors of much importance with respect to maintenance or for an extension of the plant. Energy saving state-of-the-art technology at an attractive price is an essential feature of the systems we design and construct. Thus, we create the basis for keeping the costs for power, gas, fuel oil or water and thus for your production within limits and for strengthening your competitiveness.

Heat recovery. . . free heating energy
ONI heat recovery systems for multiple use of energy In addition to improving the efficiency of the energy sources used, the new Energy Efficiency Act gives unprecedented attention to the use of waste heat. For the first time, multiple use of energy is required. This is understandable when you consider that waste heat can be used for heating purposes and therefore the use of primary energy can be dispensed with. Practical examples impressively show what can be achieved even with low-temperature waste heat and by using 1 % energy in the form of electricity, 100 % waste heat can be used. In injection moulding machines, extrusion plants, hydraulic presses or tools, expensive paid electricity is at least partly converted into heat. This waste heat, which fluctuates in a temperature range of 35 °C, has to be removed via a cooling water system and disposed of into the environment via re-cooling plants, which are again operated with expensive paid electricity. If the waste heat is used instead for heating purposes, part of the electricity used for the machines and plants is used a second time, the use of electricity for the operation of the chillers is avoided and the environment is not unnecessarily burdened with the waste heat! With regard to the issues of energy saving, sustainable energy use and environmental protection certainly the much better option. In order to be able to use this low temperature level of the cooling water for heating purposes, we have developed specially designed heaters for hall and office areas. These systems ensure that heating heat is generated from the cooling water with a dispersion of 35/30 °C, which ensures an optimal room temperature structure.

Air-conditioning/ventilation/cleanroom technology
Innovative and energy-optimised ventilation systems for optimum indoor air conditions in industrial plants From consulting, planning and professional installation to maintenance services, we offer our industrial customers all services relating to energy-efficient, ventilation and air-conditioning systems, from a single source! The product range ranges from simple ventilation, extraction systems for Workplaces or room sections, from controlled ventilation and air conditioning of production halls, office and social rooms to clean room technology for the highest demands. Our ventilation systems are used in the sectors of plastics and metal processing, food, packaging and printing industry and medical technology. With our broad range of services, we offer the right system solution for air volume flows of 500 to 500,000 cubic meters per hour for almost every application. The operating costs of such plants are an essential factor, which must be taken into account in particular. For this reason, the air conditioning, ventilation and cleanroom plants planned and built by us are always designed according to the principle of the "lowest possible cost burden" for the plant operator. Depending on the situation and conditions of use, a plant concept is developed for you, which takes into account the weighting of the construction and operating costs in an optimal way! Particular importance is attached to the issue of energy efficiency in the design of our ventilation systems. An essential factor in this is the consideration of heat recovery and the use of low-temperature waste heat for heating.

Monitoring waste heat with regard to the Energy Efficiency Act
With the “Energy Efficiency Act” (EnEfG), which came into force on 18.11.2023, among other things all companies in Germany - under certain conditions - are legally to submit energy data to the “Federal Agency for Energy Efficiency” (BfEE) from 01.01.2025. Energy Efficiency Agency” (BfEE). The aim of the EnEfG is to increase energy efficiency in Germany and to permanently reduce primary and and final energy consumption in the long term. It therefore obliges certain companies to introduce energy management and environmental management systems and to transmit their own unused waste heat data to the BfEE. ONI Wärmetrafo GmbH offers a comprehensive service package to support companies in complying with the Energy Efficiency Act (EnEfG): The obligations under the EnEfG depend on the company's total final energy consumption. As a first step, a quantitative assessment of this consumption is required. Detailed information on this can be found in the “BAFA information sheet on determining total final energy consumption”. If the calculation results in a value of more than 2.77 GWh/year, the company is subject to the waste heat reporting obligation. If consumption exceeds 7.5 GWh/year, there is an additional obligation to introduce an energy or environmental management system. ONI Wärmetrafo GmbH therefore offers a comprehensive service package which, in addition to the further evaluation of your data (e.g. possible obligation to report individual plants/locations), also includes supporting measures to enable you to comply with your waste heat reporting obligation. This includes, among other things, a specific offer for the necessary measurement technology (energy meters, heat meters, etc.) to quantitatively record the waste heat quantities generated. These services are particularly advantageous for customers who already use ONI Wärmetrafo GmbH systems, as they enable seamless integration and optimization of existing systems.

Eisspeicher
ONI was the first company to recognize that ice storage is an innovative solution for the efficient use and storage of energy in industrial cooling processes. In conjunction with renewable energies, ice storage systems allow surplus energy, for example from photovoltaic systems, to be stored for later use. This enables grid-friendly operation by storing “cold” when electricity tariffs are low and then releasing it when needed (high electricity tariffs). In addition, ice storage can bridge peak loads, allowing the refrigeration system to be optimally dimensioned and operating costs to be reduced. This peak load capping of electrical supply power will become increasingly important in the near future. Ice storage tanks can also be used as heat sources for heating buildings or for process heat, with the storage tank being regenerated using waste heat or environmental heat. With an energy density of up to 70 kWh/m³, ice storage systems significantly outperform conventional battery storage systems and enable efficient load management. In addition, they are made of cost-effective, environmentally friendly and readily available materials and are not subject to capacity degradation. ONI-Wärmetrafo GmbH integrates ice storage systems specifically into cooling and refrigeration systems in order to reduce the load on the grid and save energy costs. High-performance ice storage systems can be fully charged or discharged within a few hours. On the other hand, ice storage systems have a very low self-discharge rate, which enables storage over several days to several weeks.
