Materials Forum of the Future: Impulse for Circular Economy, Material Availability and New Business Strategies

Regulatory requirements, volatile raw material markets and growing pressure to use sustainable materials present the plastics industry with major challenges.
The Materials Forum of the Future offers the industry a powerful resource: companies gain access to the latest insights, methodological guidance and a network spanning industry, research and development. The aim is to bring together the various requirements of the circular economy and develop concrete approaches for economically viable, resource-efficient and resilient plastics processing.
The focus is on integrating engineering plastics into circular value chains, assessing recyclability and suitability for the circular economy, and identifying sustainable material combinations. Feedback from industry clearly highlights the need for practical support, platforms for exchange and concrete guidance.
The Materials Forum consortium – comprising the Kunststoff-Institut Lüdenscheid, ZENIT GmbH, the Wuppertal Institute, TWS - Technopark und Wirtschaftsförderung GmbH and REMONDIS Recycling GmbH & Co. KG – provides a strong foundation for supporting companies in their implementation efforts. The aim is to provide concrete impetus on how to strengthen and further develop the circular economy.
The Materials Forum of the Future is a project funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE) and the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Industry, Climate Protection and Energy of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia (5-Site Programme).
