Idemitsu manufactures high-quality polycarbonates under the name TARFLON/TARFLON NEO and syndiotactic polystyrene resin (SPS) under XAREC.

TARFLON was the first polycarbonate product to be manufactured on a commercialised production line based on our continuous solvent process developed in 1969. Since then, this outstanding technological development has been licensed worldwide.

XAREC is the world's first syndiotactic polystyrene resin (SPS). Idemitsu developed this unique SPS product in our central research laboratories by combining a metallocene catalyst with a styrene monomer. The metallocene catalyst gives flexibility to the structure of the crystallised polystyrene SPS and enables a wide range of possibilities and applications.
