High Precision Tool Making
Well-designed molds are the foundation of successful parts. Manufacturability and lifecycle costs are determined in this complex and precise process, which adheres to the exact specifications of the part while considering key mold design components. In addition to reducing cost, increasing quality, and optimizing performance, proper mold design and mold building are among our Five Keys to Success. As part of our mold development process, we use the latest CAD technology and software to ensure that a robust mold design is built to meet SPI standards, as well as moldflow analysis to review all mold designs and parts.

Custom Plastic Injection Molding
As a global plastic injection molding company with over 40 years of experience, WEISS Precision has gained recognition as a reliable provider of precision plastic components and injection molds. As a strategic partner for OEMs in many industries, we manufacture plastic parts and assemblies that enhance end products, reduce overall part and production costs, and simplify assembly and manufacturing processes. The WEISS Precision approach and commitment to plastic injection molding has helped us achieve our true success, in spite of a large number of manufacturers offering injection molded plastics. By improving quality, appeal, efficiency, and profitability for each customer, we provide a competitive advantage that they cannot match.

Transformation of Metal into Plastic
With years of experience in converting metal components into plastic, we have helped OEMs improve their products, reduce costs, and streamline the manufacturing process. In comparison with machining metal components, plastic allows for more complex shapes to be molded at a lower cost. It is crucial to introduce and improve engineered plastic resins with the strength and durability to compete with metals. Aside from having higher impact strength, fatigue life, and recoverable deformation, plastic components often have better wear surfaces and lower friction.

In-Mold Decoration (IMD)
Our custom plastic in-mold decorating (IMD) capabilities encompass all types and sizes of applications for a wide range of industries. During the plastic injection molding process, molded plastic parts or components are decorated by in-mold decorating (IMD). A decorative appliqué film is inserted into an open plastic injection mold and held in place with vacuum ports or other methods. Afterwards, the plastic injection mold is closed and resin is injected in order to create the finished part, encapsulating the decoration permanently.

Gas Assisted Plastic Injection Moulding
Gas Assisted Plastic Injection Moulding For over 25 years, Weiss Precision has used gas assist molding for plastic injection molding in a variety of applications, offering OEMs numerous advantages. When it comes to reducing time and cost without compromising quality or design options, gas assist injection molded plastics make a great choice. Gas Assist Molding Process Pressurized nitrogen gas is injected into a mold, pushing the plastic into the mold extremities, while hollowing out thicker portions of the part. Gas assist molding is a process of plastic injection molding at low pressure, in which plastic is pushed into mold extremities by pressurized nitrogen gas. During the gas assist molding process, plastic material is melted and injected into mold cavities via conventional injection molding. Plastic material in contact with the mold walls begins to solidify first. As this happens, nitrogen gas is injected into the mold through strategically designed and placed gas channels, providing pressure that pushes the plastic material into the mold extremities. Once the plastic cures, the nitrogen is vented and the gas assist injection molded plastic parts are removed from the mold.

Bio-Based & Bio Degradable Biopolymers
The in-house compounded customized biobased polymer grades created for injection molding have been developed to be processed by conventional machinery and have a quite similar behavior to that of petroleum-derived plastics but with the added value of being a sustainable product. Bioplastics are not a single material, but a diverse family of materials with varying properties and applications. According to European Bioplastics, a material qualifies as a bioplastic if it is bio-based, biodegradable, or possesses both characteristics simultaneously.
