Engineering - redefining service
Continuous technological evaluation and benchmarks and targeted dialogue with customers and suppliers enable us to ensure that the technologies we provide for your products are safe, efficient and technologically sophisticated – from development and material selection to production. We are more than happy to advise you on all questions relating to materials and production options, and we develop suitable technologies and support you from the development of prototypes and mold construction phase right through to series production of your new products. New products need to be ready for the market in the shortest possible time – and the benchmark for new developments of components and assemblies is today higher than ever. LEGROM developments at a glance: Development of small and precision components and assemblies Consulting on material selection and component design (for plastic components) Series development, including prototype development and rapid prototyping Material substitutions (e.g. of metals) using highly resilient and cost-effective plastics Function and performance testing of components and assemblies

Mold construction
Our services at a glance: High-performance precision injection molds, with core working steps all realised without exception in in-house processes at LEGROM In-house project management Simulation of temperature control, filling behaviour, shrinkage and warping 3D-based mold design (Step, Catia, IGES, Solidworks interfaces) 3D simulations State-of-the-art equipment Automated EDM centres Electrode production on automated HSC milling centres Palletised hard milling, sinker and wire EDM Mold maintenance Prototype production Mold sizes up to 546 x 646 mm Cost-effective injection molds from Eastern Europe and Asia Short delivery durations for injection molds Prototype molds with a short delivery duration Prototype construction Time to market – a factor which is increasingly important today. It is therefore possible at LEGROM to generate parts in good time which correspond to series parts. LEGROM has a variety of standard mold forms with different concepts into which mold inserts with different functions can be integrated. Sample parts which often do not differ from series parts can be manufactured rapidly and inexpensively in this manner. Sophisticated mold concepts enable the realisation of most sprue types, different slide directions and core pulls. LEGROM offers its customers the chance to create high-quality samples in good time with this concept, and several thousand of these can also be manufactured to a consistent quality level. We can create prototypes of every kind for you for demonstration purposes, initial trial series or small-scale series: Stereolithography Laser sintering Vacuum molding 3D printing Milled plastic or aluminium parts Prototype molds adapted to suit your quantities

Plastic bearing cages
LEGROM is one of the pioneers in the development, mold design and production of bearing cages made of technical plastics and thermoplastics resistant to high temperatures and has been regarded as a specialist in this area for more than 60 years on a global level. The first plastic bearing cage, manufactured at that time from Perlon polymer, was created at LEGROM as early as the 1950’s. Use of the latest production techniques and special production processes enables LEGROM to meet even the most unusual customer requests in the modern roller bearing industry. Plastic injection molding
Production at LEGROM is almost exclusively fully automated. To ensure optimum injection molding conditions, the granulated material is pre-dried in a central drying system and then fed from there to individual machines via a pipe system. Our state-of-the-art machinery and spotless machine environment meet all the prerequisites needed to assure the level of quality and flexibility demanded. Consulting in plastics technology Global delivery capability Injection molding machines with closing forces ranging from 350 to 2000 KN Injection moldings ranging from 0.01 to 400 grams in weight Single and multi-component injection molding Insert molding (metal and ceramic) Depositing of components through handling systems or robots High-performance thermoplastics at LEGROM Practically every high-performance plastic available on the market is used at LEGROM, ranging from PA, PBT, POM or ABS to PMMA, PPO, PPA, PAA and PES, PSU or PEI engineering plastics to high-performance thermoplastics such as LCP, PPS or PEEK. LEGROM has the appropriate solution for every plastic, both in mold construction and injection molding production. LEGROM also processes all conventional fillers, including glass fibers, carbon fibers, glass spheres, PTFE, carbon or titanium dioxide. Special mold materials and special machine equipment is available for every filler. LEGROM can realise up to 70% filler content of the raw material. Duroplastic processing
Injection molding machines with closing forces ranging from 350 to 500 KN Injection moldings ranging from 0.2 to 100 grams in weight Duroplastic molding compounds are high-quality design materials which have a firm place in many engineering applications. With its excellent mechanical, chemical and electrical properties, Duroplast achieves impressive results during substitution of metals (e.g. aluminium and zinc die cast components). In contrast to thermoplastics, duroplasts consist of thermally irreversible cross-linked macromolecules. This results in a great many positive characteristics: High strength, rigidity and surface hardness High dimensional stability Low thermal expansion coefficient, uniformity of length, width and height Good thermomechanical behaviour Low creep tendency High chemical resistance No stress corrosion Low swelling High thermal resistance Favourable fire behaviour without halogenated flame retardants Safety reserves at temperature peaks High electrical and thermal insulating properties High resistance to media

Installation / Product finishing
A further LEGROM speciality is the processing of plastic components. Targeted integration of special subcontractors enables us to offer high-precision – but extremely cost-effective – labelling, welding and joining processes. Finishing of plastic components is either integrated into the molding process in this context, or incorporated as a separate process during assembly configuration in the logistics department. Our individual technologies: Laser marking Printing (tampon printing, screen printing) Hot stamping Painting Ultrasonic welding Configuration of complete assemblies Integration of third-party services Development of test systems with electronic components Continuous innovation and technical advances at LEGROM facilitate the joining of individual plastic components or configuration of complex assemblies.
