With over 60 years of expertise in the processing of thermoset plastics, we support our customers in the selection of materials and develop the individually suitable production concept. In-house machining capabilities, such as centerless grinding,
2-sided lapping processes, etc. realize highest accuracies.

Products & services

valve block
In this automatic transmission component, the four large holes form the seat and the functional surfaces of the valves. The valve block serves to realize the oil channels and acts as a receptacle for the electric actuators that switch the hydraulic circuits. The component is firmly assembled by means of direct bolting without screw sleeves. Industry: automotive Special features: + Complex, highly fissured component geometry, realized by tooling. + No perceptible sink marks, therefore highly precise despite complex geometry + Extremely good ratio between component cost and functionality + Flat flange surfaces implemented without post-processing + Substitutes an aluminum component, which had to be machined from all sides in a time-consuming process

pump cover made of PF- and BMC-material
This pump cover is the functional link between the motor-pump unit and the gear unit to be controlled. Industry: automotive industry / e-mobility Special features: + High design freedoms. Realization of complex geometries without machining (no complex machining and post-processing). + The thermoset materials in question have a particularly good performance/cost ratio compared to metallic solutions + Excellent planarity and tolerance accuracy (depending on the geometry, tolerances of IT 8 to 10 are possible). + Substitutes an aluminum component, which had to be elaborately machined from all sides. + Excellent mechanical properties. (Additional usability as structural component with integration of e.g. bushing-free bolt-on elements). + Geometrical stability even in operating condition (continuous operation in aggressive media and high temperatures, e.g. 180° C) + No corrosion

oil pump slider
This component is used in an engine oil pump. It is installed in a high precision die-cast aluminum housing. By rotating the component around the bearing point (semicircle at the left of the picture), the flow rate of the oil is fully variably controlled, according to the load condition of the engine. The efficiency of a fully controlled pump is significantly higher than that of a permanently driven pump (the oil flow rate corresponds only to the required volume flow). Fuel consumption and CO² emissions are reduced as a result. Industry: automotive industry/technical application Special features: + Substitution of sintered steel + 70% of the component surface with 0° draft angle (thermoplastic and aluminum die-cast components generally always require a draft angle) + the two ground surfaces (light gray) have a parallelism of 10 µm. (High precision part)

spiral housing electrical water pump
The component contains the suction and delivery side and conveys the cooling medium. The impeller adjacent to this component, which conveys the cooling medium, is driven by an electric motor. The electric motor is connected directly to the spiral housing component by means of a customer-specific connector collar. Industry: industrial application / automotive industry Special features: + very complex moulding tool technology with complex slide technology. + Plug pin molding with different geometric variants. Realization of several variants in one mother tool + Realization of tool falling customer contact points without mechanical processing of the precise functional surfaces

Cover - high voltage application
This housing component is installed together with two other thermoset elements as a module in a gas-insulated switch cabinet. This module serves as a central switching element for medium-volt voltages (e.g. 10.000V). Industry: Electrical industry Special features: + very high durability + high dielectric strength of 33kV/mm + realization of high strength and simultaneous electrically insulating lightweight construction + very high flame retardancy

vacuum pump cover
The pump cover realizes a flat functional surface of the vacuum pump and at the same time contains the functional bearing of a pressure relief valve. The component is installed close to the engine (temperatures up to +160°C) and permanently in an oil-containing environment. By means of direct screwing without screw sleeves, the cover is firmly mounted on the pump housing. Industry: automotive industry Special features: + highly flat functional surface on the inside and at the same time highly fissured outside with pronounced stiffening ribs. + Realization of the flatness of the component geometry by tooling, without machining. + Screw-on areas by means of direct screw connection (without sleeves). + System integration of various functions in one component.

electronic overmoulding
Thermoset materials can be used in low-pressure processes to very gently encase sensitive electronics and thus effectively protect them from media and environmental influences. In addition, thermally conductive materials protect the electronics from "heat death". Function integration creates clever solutions and saves the project budget. Baumgarten uses a special mold technology that ensures precise overmolding of connector pins. Mature thermoset materials thus reliably realize a media-tight overmolding and, thanks to the one-shot process, simultaneously create elaborate and complex housing elements. A time-consuming potting process is thus no longer necessary. Thermoset overmolding creates integrated solutions that also effectively protect your power electronics effectively.
