ABS
Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) is a synthetic terpolymer (terpolymers are copolymers of three monomer types arranged in a random distribution within a linear macromolecule). ABS is derived from the three different monomer types acrylonitrile, butadiene, and styrene and is an amorphous thermoplastic.
ABS is produced on an industrial scale by graft polymerization, but can also be produced by blending (mixing) the finished polymers.
Characteristic properties:
Good chemical resistance
Good sound absorption, both mechanically and acoustically
High impact and notched impact strength
Well suited for coloring with all colors
Electroplatable
Relatively low water absorption
Areas of application:
Toy and household goods industry, automotive, sanitary applications, compounding
