Apprenticeship as a Tool Mechanic

Tool mechanics manufacture precision metal molds used for injection molding plastic components. They produce individual parts by turning, milling, grinding, drilling, and electrical discharge machining, partly using CNC-controlled equipment. They interpret technical drawings and translate them into high-precision components, assemble and disassemble molds, and are responsible for maintaining and repairing injection molding tools.

During your apprenticeship, you will learn how to distinguish and handle different materials and gain in-depth knowledge of machining processes such as drilling, countersinking, turning, milling, and grinding. You will be trained to assemble mold components according to functional requirements and to read and interpret technical documentation accurately. A key part of your training will be machining surfaces on injection molds with an accuracy of up to 0.01 mm as well as creating complex contours and engravings.

We offer experienced trainers, supportive and motivated colleagues, and a varied field of activity with responsible tasks. You will benefit from strong prospects of permanent employment, long-term job security, and diverse further training opportunities after completing your apprenticeship.

We are looking for candidates with a genuine interest in the profession, strong manual skills, motivation, and the willingness to integrate into a team. A responsible approach to equipment and resources as well as at least a secondary school diploma is required.
